Omaha International Folk Dance

Come Dance With Us---Or Let Us Dance For You!
Sunday Afternoons 3:00-6:00 pm (but call to make sure at 402-558-3475 or 402-554-2609)
Regular Location:  HPER Building Dance Lab at UNO (but for fall 2006 in the golf lab next to the dance lab)

HPER Building Information:
On the campus of the University of Nebraska-Omaha, the HPER building is the campus rec center, just south of the field house.  Park in front of the building.  Stop at the front desk and tell the attendant you're there for folk dancing so you can get in without a student pass.  The dance lab is on the second floor as far to the south and east as you can go.

Because UNO sometimes changes hours without much advance notice, we strongly recommend that you call ahead to check on location.

To book a performace, call Jennifer (402-558-3475H or 402-554-2609)
For other information, contact Carol at 402-391-4765 or at carolgq@cox.net.

We do dances from many countries mostly (but not all) European. We learn these dances from various performers and folklorists who travel through the U.S. teaching them at workshops.  Sometimes we host workshops in Omaha.   We usually teach beginners for the first part of our sessions, then teach more challenging dances and have request dancing until we conclude   The schedule is flexible and depends on demand.
No partner needed -- many of these dances are done in a line.  We are always happy to have visitors!

If you want to listen to the kind of music that International Folk Dancers dance to, try the online radio program "Music from the Hills," hosted by international folk dancer John Uhlemann from Saint Louis.  His program is on KDHX out of Saint Louis on Saturday afternoons at 4:00.  Also try another great international folk music program, "Folks of the World," on KDHX, Wednesday mornings at 9:00.  To listen online go to http://www.kdhx.org and click on "listen"!
